OVER 50 ACRES OF TRAILS OFFER MORE THAN
A GOOD WALK
Our Nature Trails offer a way to stretch your legs, enjoy some cardio in pleasant surroundings and get away from civilization for a while without having to hightail it to all the way to Montana.
This land was donated to the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth by the Perera family, descendants of Henry C. Thacher, a prominent citizen, philanthropist, and one of the wealthiest men on Cape Cod in the post-Civil War era. They are to be maintained and preserved as natural habitat forever.
As you walk see if you can identify occasional holes and tee boxes from what is purported to be the very first private golf course on the Cape. You may even be able to make out the original configuration. Our handy Trails Map will guide you along the marked trails so you won't go astray.
You'll find the Trail Head—along with copies of the Trails Map—at the Tufts Gatehouse, the small building on the lane next to and behind the Yarmouth Port Post Office located on Route 6A. Park near the Gatehouse. All we ask is that you keep pets on a leash and carry out what you bring in. Donations are appreciated.
