This organization would never have gotten off the ground in 1953 were it not for the generous support of people like you who share our commitment to exploring, preserving, and celebrating the history of this exceptional place and those who've lived here. Together, both our Members and our Supporters have helped us bring history to life for people of all ages during our house, cemetery, and walking tours, our lectures and educational programs, our presentations to students in our schools, and the many special events we conduct in our communities throughout the year. Your support has never wavered and has been critical in enabling us to continue our work.

Thank you, Members and especially our Volunteers for your energy and enthusiasm, working throughout the year, taking roles in our walking tours as historic characters dressed in (often uncomfortable) period clothing, for welcoming and guiding visitors as trained, knowledgeable docents, for researching and authoring informative articles and books, and for preparing and delivering lively, informative lectures to appreciative audiences. You are not only what makes this organization work, you are the smiling face of this organization and you make all of us proud.

Thank you, Supporters and Donors for helping to further our efforts with critical financial resources including Community Preservation Funds and
grants from the Town and the People of Yarmouth, Yarmouth Tourism, the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, and the Cape Cod Five, as well as the Cape Cod Antique Dealers Association, for which we are exceedingly grateful. And thanks also to all those who have donated important historic properties and items of all kinds to include in our collections—from furniture and furnishings to art and porcelain, from spectacles and clothing to coins and jewelry. Indeed, we’re honored that you would entrust so many treasured family heirlooms and documents to us for preservation and display. We mustn't forget the Garden Club of Yarmouth for helping to make our properties, and all parts of our town, more colorful and beautiful throughout the year. And we owe more than we can say to everyone who has visited the Captain Bangs Hallet House Museum, come to our many events, attended our presentations and lectures, or walked along with us on our tours of the Old King's Highway, Bass River, and our historic cemeteries to meet colorful characters out of our own past. We wouldn't be the same without all of you.

We can't thank you enough.

The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth is a non-profit, volunteer organization now in its sixth decade. We take no advertising; there are no ads on our website. But we do encourage you to patronize the following Business and Professional Members whose donations help to support all our activities.
