WE’RE ALL VOLUNTEERS HERE, DOING WHAT WE LOVE.
As one of the most active historical societies on the Cape, we are indebted to our volunteers who make everything go smoothly.
Below are some of the Volunteer Opportunities at HSOY. Use the form at the bottom of the page or contact us directly to indicate what you’d like to learn more about. If you have a special area of expertise, please tell us.
Join the Capt. Bangs Hallet House Museum Docent Team!
We are looking for additional docents for the 2026 season at the Captain Bangs Hallet House Museum in historic Yarmouth Port. An interest in local history, historic homes and antiques is a plus but not required! Enthusiasm, cheerfulness and a friendly face are more important! You can help support HSOY, promote the town’s history and give tours to visitors from near and far.
If this sounds like the rewarding volunteer experience you’ve been looking for, we would love to hear from you! Email us to apply or come to one of our Docent Info Sessions at 3:30 PM on May 7 or 17!
We are hosting 2 informal info sessions for anyone interested in learning more about the Captain Bangs Hallet House Museum and its 2026 season. Whether you have been a docent before or this is your first step beyond the velvet ropes, so to speak, join us to learn how you can volunteer and support the museum as well as the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth. Choose either Thursday, May 7 or Sunday, May 17 @ 3:30 PM at the Captain Bangs Hallet House Museum. Please email info@hsoy.org to register.
